The International Boston Seafood Show

Since its inception some 20 years ago, the International Boston Seafood Show has been the premier trade event for seafood producers and buyers throughout the world. It is held in Boston, Massachusetts every year, usually around mid-March. With over 1,200 booths and 750 exhibitors, thousands of visitors flock the show each year to do business, look for new products and keep abreast of industry trends. The Newfoundland and Labrador seafood industry has always been well represented at this event both as exhibitors and visitors. The Department organizes a Newfoundland and Labrador pavilion usually consisting of 1,000 square feet with seafood companies and marketing organizations occupying part of this space. In addition, many other of the Province’s seafood and related industry companies either have their own booths or work in conjunction with brokers or distributors at their booths. This show will continue to be a key marketing venue for the Newfoundland and Labrador seafood industry.

European Seafood Exposition

With over 1,200 seafood companies from 136 countries exhibiting and thousands of visitors from all over the world, this show is the premier European show for seafood. It takes place in the late spring in Brussels, Belgium. Concurrent with this show, in the same exhibition centre, is Seafood Processing Europe, a seafood technology, equipment and packaging exposition. The Department participates with other seafood producing Provinces and the Federal Government in the Canadian Pavilion at the European Seafood Exposition . The Department’s space within the Canadian Pavilion is used to promote Newfoundland and Labrador seafood and to facilitate export business for Newfoundland and Labrador seafood companies.

China Fisheries & Seafood Exposition

The annual China Fisheries & Seafood Exposition is a world class event that features exhibitors from 34 countries and visitors from 84 countries. The China Fisheries & Seafood Exposition 2008 hosted approximately 735 exhibiting companies. At this event the Department participates in the Canadian Pavilion with other seafood producing Provinces and the Federal Government. The Department’s role at the Expo is to promote Newfoundland and Labrador seafood and to facilitate export business for Newfoundland and Labrador seafood companies.

World Food Moscow

World Food Moscow has established itself as an ideal place for international and domestic food and drink producers to promote their products and services to the food retail sector, caterers, chefs, wholesales and distributors. Established in 1992, World Food Moscow is an annual event held in September that has international flair and appeal for well-established companies and those just planning to enter the business. In 2009, the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture in collaboration with the Newfoundland and Labrador seafood industry will participate in World Seafood Moscow, a dedicated independent exhibition within World Food Moscow. Our participation in this world class international event will give the province an opportunity to promote our seafood products in the growing Russian market. This is an ideal venue for Newfoundland and Labrador seafood companies to meet existing customers, generate new sales leads, enhance their visibility and establish a presence in the Russian marketplace.

Aqua Nor

Aqua Nor is a major aquaculture trade show and exhibition venue that showcases products, services, and research and development of importance to the industry. The Department participates in the Canadian Pavilion to promote investment and to raise the profile of the province’s aquaculture industry within the international aquaculture industry. Thousands of visitors from over 50 nations attend this event to view over 300 exhibits representing more than 600 manufacturers and suppliers from all over the world. Aqua Nor is held biennially in Trondheim, Norway.
